Blood Thinners

Before undergoing Aesthetic and Plastic Surgery surgeries, it is crucial to discontinue the use of blood thinners under the supervision of a doctor. Blood thinners can lead to excessive bleeding, particularly in liposuction, bbl, tummy tuck, bbl, and rhinoplasty surgeries.

At least 10 days prior to your surgery, you should discontinue the use of blood thinners, certain vitamin supplements, weight loss medications, painkillers, and herbal teas with the knowledge and approval of your doctor.

What are Blood Thinners?

There are two types of blood thinners: anticoagulant drugs and antiaggregant drugs.

Anticoagulants are medications that doctors prescribe to prevent blood clots and thrombosis. Examples of anticoagulants include warfarin, heparin, dabigatran, rivaroxaban, apixaban, and edoxaban.

Antiaggregant drugs are commonly known as Aspirin, Coraspin, Ecoprin.

In general, certain medications should be discontinued under the supervision of a physician prior to plastic surgery.

Aspirin, Coraspin, Coumadin, Orfarin, Plavix, Ticlid, Agretik, Ticlocard, Diaben, Gliben, Aurorix, Triptyline, Fludex, and similar medications.

Important: The medicines listed above are for informational purposes only. Prior to the operation, please inform your doctor of any medications you are taking at least 20 days in advance. Your doctor will provide guidance in this matter.

Birth Control Medication Should Be Discontinued

Patients who are planning to undergo plastic surgery should stop taking birth control pills at least one month prior to the procedure. This is because birth control medications increase the risk of clot formation in the legs. It is important for patients with high weight, bleeding disorders, and smokers to be particularly aware of this risk.

Patients undergoing combined surgeries, such as liposuction, tummy tuck, mommy makeover, or BBL, are at a higher risk. It is important to inform your healthcare provider or doctor about this.

It is important to note that some patients have experienced issues with this matter in the past. In a few cases, patients have chosen not to use birth control medication to avoid the cancellation of their surgery, which has resulted in significant risks. It is crucial to ensure that your doctor is experienced in this matter to avoid any potential complications. In rare cases, even experienced doctors may be unable to provide a solution.

Quit Bodybuilding Drugs

Patients who use supplements such as steroids, protein powders, or pills should discontinue their use at least two months prior to surgery. Those who are considering plastic surgery should plan their procedures accordingly. It is important to note that steroid use poses risks for plastic surgery.

Do not Drink Some Herbal Teas and Supplements

Certain herbal teas have a blood-thinning effect. It is advisable to avoid consuming these herbs and teas for 15 days before undergoing aesthetic surgery.

Foods and herbal teas such as grape seeds, garlic tablets, lemon balm, ginger, turmeric, linden, pumpkin seeds, cayenne pepper, cinnamon, chamomile, green tea, cabbage, thyme, sage, and pineapple are known to increase the risk of bleeding. Tomatoes should also be avoided.
